By Andre Blackman. Summer is in full swing (if you haven?t already noticed) ? the days of relaxation and spending time with friends/family are upon us. But that doesn?t mean the learning has to go on hiatus! Next month, health professionals from all over the country will descend upon Atlanta, Georgia for the 6th National Health Communications, Marketing and Media conference. In partnership with leading health organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control, National Public Health Information Coalition (NPHIC) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Association (SAMHSA), the conference will:
?bring together academia, public health researchers and practitioners from all levels of government and private sectors, and provides a forum for cross-disciplinary dialogue.?
Having attended the conference for the past few years (as well as being on the Planning Committee), I can honestly say that this is an event you won?t want to miss. All of your colleagues that work in various aspects of public health such as health policy and health communications (digital and traditional) will be here to learn best practices, network, and get inspired. As a matter of fact, that?s the theme for this year: ?Inform, Inspire and Improve Health.?
For a glimpse into what previous conferences looked like, check out the Archives section. Also, check out the 2011 Opening Plenary talk that kicked off last year?s event.
If you?re passionate about how to better communicate solutions and strategies make an impact in public health, register today! I?m happy to note that there are scholarships to attend the conference as well. It?s very important to provide the up-and-coming generation of public health professionals with opportunities to learn and connect!
Can?t make the conference but want to know what?s going on? Follow the event on Twitter using the hashtag #hcmmconf.
