Flowers misses profit views (Investor's Business Daily)

The parent of Flowers, Nature's Own, Dandee and other bakery brands reported that Q2 earnings fell 38% to 23 cents per share compared to the same period last year, missing forecasts by 3 cents. Flowers Foods (NYSE:FLO - News) joins the ranks of food companies finding it difficult to increase prices — to combat rising costs — in a lethargic economy. Sales rose 6% to $642.6 mil, topping views. The company expects 2011 earnings to be unchanged to up 5%, down from its prior forecast for 5%-10% growth. Flowers dropped 9.5% to 19.28.
